Job Summary:
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs to meet compliance standards with regulatory requirements and to promote a culture of safety within the organization. This role will involve coordinating with various departments to address EHS concerns, conducting training sessions, performing audits, and leading incident investigations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compliance Management: Ensure the company’s adherence to all local, state, and federal EHS regulations. Stay updated on changes in legislation and communicate these changes to management and staff.
- Program Development: Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS programs, policies, and procedures, including but not limited to hazardous materials management, emergency response plans, and workplace ergonomics.
- Training and Education: Develop and deliver training programs to employees on various EHS topics, including safe work practices, emergency procedures, and the proper use of protective equipment.
Safety: Implement policies that are compliant with local, state, and federal OSHA regulations. - Incident Investigation: Lead investigations of workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses. Identify root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Audits and Inspections: Conduct regular EHS audits and inspections to identify potential hazards, ensure compliance, and recommend corrective actions. Maintain accurate records of all findings and follow-up activities.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments and job hazard analyses (JHAs) to identify potential hazards and implement appropriate control measures.
- Waste Management: Oversee the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste in compliance with environmental regulations.
- Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response plans and conduct regular drills to ensure readiness for potential emergencies.
- Reporting: Prepare and submit required EHS reports to regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Continuous Improvement: Work with management to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance EHS performance.
