A well-established industrial company is seeking an experienced Associate General Counsel to serve as the primary legal advisor to its U.S. operations. This newly created position offers a unique opportunity to join the senior leadership team and provide legal guidance across a broad spectrum of business matters, from commercial contracts to regulatory compliance.

 

Reporting directly to company leadership and working in close coordination with the corporate legal team, the Associate General Counsel will play a critical role in managing legal risk while supporting business growth and strategic initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide practical legal counsel on a wide range of business matters, including commercial agreements, regulatory issues, labor and employment law, intellectual property, and litigation management.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with customers, vendors, and strategic partners. Manage contract renewals and support internal stakeholders through the contract lifecycle.
  • Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments; advise leadership and key departments accordingly.
  • Support corporate governance activities, including serving as acting secretary to the management board and maintaining organizational records.
  • Partner with Human Resources on complex employee relations matters, policy development, and compliance with federal and state employment laws.
  • Collaborate with corporate counsel on global initiatives, including joint ventures, acquisitions, and divestitures.
  • Promote a culture of ethics, compliance, and professional integrity across all business operations.

 

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed and authorized to practice law in the State of Ohio.
  • 7–10 years of legal experience, with a mix of law firm and in-house counsel preferred.
  • Strong command of labor and employment law, particularly in manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Experience working in a unionized setting and/or with global operations is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, actionable business guidance.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the organization.
  • High standards of professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
