Environmental Health & Safety Engineer

GEE Group has partnered with a leader in the equipment manufacturing industry and offering a great opportunity for an experienced Senior Environmental Health & Safety Engineer. This opportunity is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing effective programs to achieve top notch EHS performance.

EHS Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Verify compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Ensure Hazard Communication, Lock-Out/Tag-Out, Machine Guarding, Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, Electrical Safety, Arc Flash, Robot Safety, and Cranes comply with company policies.
  • Generate compliance reports for Federal, State and Local entities, customers, and parent companies.
  • Develop corrective action plans for injury, illness, and near miss investigations using root cause analysis.
  • Verify permit compliance (air & water).
  • Lead hazardous waste management and disposal activities.
  • Create and implement facility ergonomics program.
  • Oversee Carbon Neutrality projects.
  • Facilitate SDS Program for materials used, received, and processed.
  • Generate testing emergency action plans and procedures including fire evacuation, severe weather, chemical spills, etc.
  • Lead Workers Compensation claims in coordination with company contracted TPA, the Ohio BWC and legal counsel.
  • Manage EHS meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, performance evaluation, and identify corrective action.
  • Conduct Risk Assessments with all departments for industry standard compliance (ANSI, NFPA, ACGIH, RIA, etc.).

Qualified Candidates:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety Management or Environmental Management.
  • 3-5 years' experience in manufacturing environment required.
  • In-depth knowledge of workers' compensation regulations.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA< NFPA, EPA and other governmental regulations/laws including OSHA 300 Logs.
  • Solid background working with multiple 24/7 plant locations.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 (ISO 45001).
  • Experience with OSHA VPP.
